Those eggs that got sent out to gaming journalists
Since so few of them were made, I'm wondering if they're going to show up on eBay as rare collectors' items one day. What else are those companies going to do with them?
If one popped up on eBay, how many of you would try bidding on it?

"collectors" have way more money than i do, haha. i'm also trying to be less materialistic in general, not just because of money. i might bid on something like that anyway, but i assume i would be quickly outbid by somebody else. i'm rather curious about them anyway, though -- are they really just basic plastic (or whatever) eggs? was there something inside of the eggs? they just seem like a weird promotional idea overall

Re: Those eggs that got sent out to gaming journalists
I remember seeing a reddit post or something that found the exact eggs somewhere on etsy. It looked like they were commissioned from there, or had a common source.

So yeah. You want one? It's only $35, lol.

"Listed on Apr 20, 2018", well after the original eggs were sent out.

Where are you seeing a list date? I don't think that date indicates the real list date. These have been on etsy for the past month. Maybe it wasn't noticed widely until after the eggs were sent out, but it was definately before April 20th. And the reviews for the eggs date as far back to 2015.

Where are you seeing a list date?
near the bottom of the page, below the orange "Shop more similar items" box, and above the "Enter your email - Subscribe" box.
you are right that there are reviews for the eggs before April 20th, but it looks like those reviews are for other colors, not the purple ones specifically.

Re: Those eggs that got sent out to gaming journalists
So I did another 5 minutes of digging around cuz im a super sleuth, and it looks like these eggs are pretty easy to make, albeit time consuming. All you need is a styrofoam egg, nail polish, thumb tacks, and a work area. I still think it's possible that the etsy I shared was available for Activision because I know I saw this exact one before April 20th, I just can't find any links to prove it. However, I also know some of the other eggs people got did not look exactly like the same colors others got. I think sometimes we overestimate Activision's resources. The people who made these eggs might be a few people that work for Activision Blizzard's marketing team, and maybe they all didn't make them the same way because they aren't artists.

Oh, the scales are thumbtacks? On top of foam? I saw articles talking about wanting to "crack them open," lol, there wouldn't be much to see if that's all they are.

Eggs were pretty cool looking.
