Re: Help with Sound Effects

uh, man. hmm a lot of these are such short clips, i can't tell what they are. some of them i've never even heard before. like "Spyro_2_WAD_00168" just sounds like a percussion noise. i don't know if it's supposed to be part of something. "Spyro_2_WAD_00143" sounds like the same thing at a lower pitch.

i'll hold onto these files, but i'm afraid i'm not gonna be much help.

Spyro_2_WAD_01534 - picking up a gem
Spyro_2_WAD_01535 - charging
Spyro_2_WAD_01699 - whirlwind
Spyro_2_WAD_01892 - possibly a pause menu noise?
Spyro_2_WAD_02011 - another gem noise
Spyro_2_WAD_02140 - normal flame breath
Spyro_2_WAD_02394 - another charging sound...?

i'm wondering if maybe there aren't actually 2,000+ sounds and some of them are repeated. because i've found like 3-4 charging sounds already, and they're always right next to a gem sound.

Re: Help with Sound Effects

Actually, that is a ton of help. For the ones I'm not sure of myself, I just name them what the sound sounds like. So in that case "Percussion noise" would work just fine. That way I at least have some idea what it is without having to listen to the whole list every time I'm looking for a specific sound.

And I was wondering the same thing about the clips being repeated. I swear I found duplicates just within those first 100.

Re: Help with Sound Effects

You can listen (and extract) them using PSound too with your original disk with the wad file. They are repeated there too, but they are usually grouped by levels so you can sometimes guess their meaning by the level. The bad news is that you have to provide the correct sampling frequency yourself, which vary from sound to sound.

Re: Help with Sound Effects

Well, I would attempt to do that, but I have no idea what any of that means, lol. Thanks for the suggestion though.
