The "Ive Got The Game!" Thread
OK, this thread is so everyone doesent make thweir own "Ive got the game!" thread.
If you have this game, feel free to post your opinion about it here!
I just got this game today, and it is pretty good.
The only problem is so far is that about half the game is cut-seans and the other half is gameplay. Sparx sounds very cocky and is a total smart *bleep*.
Graphics are good.

Me and Blueflame are planning on getting it this weekend.

I hate that. Well usually they tone down the cut-scenes as the game go's on.
I hope it's good.

Re: The "Ive Got The Game!" Thread
Ž · Darn I have too many things to say about this game! Haha.
First and foremost, I have to comment about the control system. Some of the controls are pretty identical: X for jump, double x for double jump, hold x for glide, and there's the glide function too. I just wished they made square as the attack button, but who cares, square is more fitted to the breath attack. Oh and look, breath bomb unlimited for triangle, HAHA. Yeah *bleep* the triangle is so fun using when you got everything maxed out, makes your fury attacks look like trash LOL. Yeah, just think, mash Triangle and Square while Fire Element is activated and it's maxed out... HAHA, explosions everywhere. Next, the Fury button. I think this button is only for those who seem to have problems with action games and they're being swarmed, since I never used these unless I'm required to (training grounds), because that's where the bombs come in, haha. But I think they fluked somewhere in the charge button... you gotta be on a full stop before it activates! And yes, the wonderful L1, the sight lock. For those who are experienced with either Devil May Cry, God of War, or both, you may want to refer to this as the "lock-on system", as because you may also perform evade manuevers and lunge maneuvers using this. Just Hold on L1, point to a direction, and Press X. Kinda really reminds me of the typical A&A term, which was first used to mean Avoid And Attack, but now some use it as Arrest and Astonish. The square button fits prefect with it's role of being able to be used at almost anytime. No moves cancelled, LOL.
Gameplay. The typical action game. They did have flukes though. First and foremost, THE LIFE SYSTEM. There's gotta be a way to extend the lifebar, and there's gotta be a time where you only have a limited number of lives. Next, we have the evade system. Spyro responds too slow to the L1-left/right-X button combination to evade, and usually I still get hit on those. Oh yeah and too much flashy effects on the enemies and Spyro, BTW. And I just really hope that this game was seperated into missions instead of a straight storyline, just like Devil May Cry 3, so that we have time to earn for the powerups. Oh yeah, the powerups. Kinda new to see the purple gauge as an AP count... unique, I like it, even though it *bleep*s me off because I don't see a definite value.
Storyline? I haven't finished it yet, but I'm sure near, I'm at the volcano level right now, at the third save point. BUT YEAH WHEN IGNITUS ASKED VOLTEER "WHAT WAS CYNDER GOING TO DO WITH YOU?", I LAUGHED MY WAY OUT OF MY MIND BECAUSE OF A DIFFERENT THOUGHT THAT ENTERED ME, HAHA. Just wish that the levels were all too identical... well, they aren't really, but the enemies are practically the same... Why is it the 2 recent games I bought, namely this one and FF12, are full of cutscenes? Well, don't care much, sicne the storyline is worth looking at...
The gem system. Too bad that the only value you get is the AP value from the blue gems. I think they overloaded the game with too much Green and Red Gems... you can practically overuse your abilities and be in the middle of the swarm without a sweat. Lacked thrill, IMO.
Characters? I'm not complaining about it, at least it was talking fully about dragons LOL. Dragons are still my favorite creature... Spyro? I think they just fluked the front view, the nose was too wide. Sparx? Poorly done, and the voice doesn't fit him. Ignitus? HANDSOME. JUST HANDSOME. He really doesn't look like an old dragon, but I really feel for him since I think I know what will happen at the end of the game... I just hope I'm wrong. Volteer? Well quite unlikely to see a creature of a thousand words which is at the same time using those words in synonymous ways in one sentence just to describe one thing with one trait. Bah, never mind him. Cyril? I can't tell yet, he just seems to be a great dragon of wisdom. Ooh, now that's something I've been waiting for. Cynder? No I haven't seen her yet.
And I've got some facts about the powerups now that I'm almost finished...
Fire Breath 1 - A typically straight breath that temporarily stuns your opponent.
Fire Breath 2 - Wider vicinity, slight damage increase, magic cost reduced a bit.
Fire Breath 3 - So wide vicinity, damage increase becomes evident, magic cost reduced a bit.
Fire Breath 4 - Where the party starts, very wide vicinity and damage increase is great, magic cost becomes so low.
Fire Bomb 1 - A typical bomb used to just kill from long range.
Fire Bomb 2 - Explosion range increased, velocity increased a bit.
Fire Bomb 3 - Explosion is loud and wide, velocity remains like Fire Bomb 2.
Fire Bomb 4 - Where the party starts, not only does the explosion become so wide, loud, and have a lot of damage, but it also splits into 15 more fire bombs which induce more fireworks around the area and deal additional damage ROFL. I like spamming these on the field, magic cost becomes so low.
I'd like to tell more but I'm busy right now. I'll come back for this later.
EDIT: I told you I'll come back for this soon...
Because guess what!!!
ANOTHER PAIRING ROCKS THE WORLD!!! HAHAHA!!!
NO SERIOUSLY. JUST LOOK AT THE FINAL SCENE OF THE GAME! IF TWO MINDS THAT THINK ALIKE ARE 2 MINDS IN LOVE... THEN THAT MEANS THAT...
Oh how could I say it. It may be a darn spoiler so I can't really say it. Oh wait, what's the spoiler button for...
At first I thought that Ignitus x Dark Cynder was already forever, but now that I think about it... ROFL. SERIOUSLY. I COULDN'T GET THAT THOUGHT OUT OF MY MIND. I HARDLY EVEN WENT TO SLEEP BECAUSE OF ALL THE LOCOMOTION I WAS IN.
OK sorry for the capital letters and all, but... I COULDN'T HELP BUT ADMIT THAT I LIKED THAT.

Re: The "Ive Got The Game!" Thread
Ž · I think it's after you beat her the first time and before you beat her the second time.
I was going through the game again, and the final move of Spyro really struck my mind... from the statement "Now, it's time to unleash the true dragon within you", I felt something very different... as if the dragonic aura was cominb back to my emotions... nto sure, but I'm really going so blank whenever I remember Spyro doing the Dragona Fury and beating Cynder down... really, I can feel it heavily in my heart. You all do know that I've been a dragon fanatic for about... 4 years now...
Still, Spyro x Young Cynder rocks the world!

That's pretty funny.
Anyway, I officially hate this game. I had about 3 glitches where I had to restart at the last save-point. I am in the middle of Tall Plains for the 3rd time now. >_<

Re: The "Ive Got The Game!" Thread
the second time through this game i only came accross 1 glitch. In the roud feild area in the jungle type place with the levels around it, one enemy was stuck behind the elemntal wall and i couldent get him. It took a while beforoe i could.
I like this game. I guess if you took alll the gameplay out of it, it would be a story.
Oh yeah and i found a way to skip cutseans. On gamecube, hold the R and L triggers on the side at the same time. Also, my 9 year old sister just beat this game. She likes it

Ž · For the PS2 version, simply press L1 to skip the cutscene if you're having a lack of patience. But I prefer not to, I'm writing down the game script, haha, especially that I want to learn a wide array of vocabulary from Volteer, which appears to become my favorite dragon right now.

Re: The "Ive Got The Game!" Thread
I'm starting to get some info about the attacks right here...
Fire Breath: A common breath which is meant to deal damage to multiple enemies. It has a good temporary stun effect to the enemies, but these can't be used too consecutively for stunning. Uses low mana and is normally effective against bosses. As it levels up, range and damage are improved
Fire Bomb: Your usual bomb, this wrecks havoc into enemies by exploding and dealing damage unusually high. Also has a good stun effect. Uses low mana and is normally effective against crowds and bosses. As it levels up, explosion damage and range is improved (with the exception of the final upgrade)
Fire Fury: A usual fury which covers a considerable range and is normally effective against crowds. As it levels up, it gains additional meteors effect before the explosion, but they don't seem to be effective much.
Thunder Breath: The breath for impatient people, this breath enables you to move your opponents left or right and maybe you can make them fall down into bottomless vicinities. Uses very low mana and a very wide range, but the picking of the target will be quite tricky.
Thunder Bomb: A common battle item, this one is very easy to use and uses a considerably low mana cost. After launching, as long as it can see an enemy, it tries to aim straight for it by circling around the target as much as possible. As it levels up, damage and hit range is improved, while there's a slight increase in the time the enemy is suspended in mid-air.
Thunder Fury: Fit to devastate enemies that are too near you, this is only useful if you're cornered. Covers a considerably short range, but it can instantly kill all enemies within the range. As it levels up, it gives an additional shock before the explosion which is sure to kill all in front of you.
Ice Breath: A good battle item which freezes your opponent, useful if you're trying to run. Not meant for battle, you may use this to seperate crowds quick. Uses a mana cost a bit higher than Fire Breath.
Ice Bomb: An unusually different bomb which fires as Shards. This is a good battle item. Not only does it bounce like a ricochet and slows down your opponent and has long range, but it also reduces the defence of the target you are slowing. Preferably, the ice element is the one most gracious to the Triangle-Square mashing combo. Uses a high amount of mana.
Ice Fury: Medium ranged fury which stops the enemies in their tracks as the fury continues. Probably a good fury, you should always consult to this. As it levels up, it gets the BEST bonus for all the furies, which is the million ice shard rain, which sprays DIRECTLY at the opponents in range, which is sure to kill them after the explosion. The best fury ever.
Earth Breath: Spyro's gun type breath, this was meant to ward off any enemies in front of you. Deals high damage, but low range. Best used against bosses because of the great effectiveness of this breath against them. Uses a high mana cost. As it levels up, it's range is even more narrowed, and power becomes even higher. Later you'll notice that the vicintiy of the attack is V-shaped.
Earth Bomb: Probably the best bomb out there, it's like combining the Thunder and Fire bombs. Deals damage and suspends enemies mid-air as they're damaged. A very good battle item, indeed, this was meant to kill crowds if you're running low on mana.
Earth Fury: I haven't seen this one yet... Sorry.

Hm, quite a discussion here, but nothing seems to be happening... Here's the only thread that's been happening in the Neo forums:
Thread title: Hey

so, do you have it yet? I phoned the store and they dont have it in yet. I am absolutely dying!!

Where i live in Deep South TX, the game will be in my hands by this time next week. The release date is October 16. Good luck in beating it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DUD on Oct. 17, '06
I,ve gotten it and beaten it since Oct 11, I guess I'm lucky. It is actually a nice change to the game. The storyline is developed much better than in other Spyro games. The combat is good and challenging. The whole game seems to have a darker, somewhat more mature feel to it. The only thing I didn't much like about it was the linear gameplay. If they would just make the next title non-linear then I would love it.
Possible small SPOILER:

Hm. I'm one of the remaining Spyro addicts in the Neo forums, and I've posted my comments about this game on different forums already. Now I'm putting this here:
Darn I have too many things to say about this game! Haha.

I never noticed any reduction in mp cost, just that you didn't have to use it as much to do the same job.
You forgot to mention the awesomeness that is the fully upgraded long range earth breath. I highly suggest you start upgrading that. The short range earth breath is lame though, IMO.
The most fun part of the game for me? *SPOILER* On the third level when there are so many open areas with cliffs, it is real fun to use the short range lightning (electric) attack to throw enemies off those cliffs and watch them fall helplessly and die.
I really wish they had more variety in enemies too, now that I think about it. I also wish you could have upgraded your melee moves.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zekira on oct. 18, '06
Seriously, it reduces magic cost. Although you may say that it's only more powerful and doesn't have reduced mana cost, thenyour magic power may have deteriorated a lot quicker. I've tried wasting my breath on air to see how long it will last, and the level 4 breaths live longer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DUD on Oct. 19, '06
Hmmm...Maybe your right. I'll have to do a fresh restart and compare between them before I'm completely satisfied that this is true though. No offense to you, of course, I'm just skeptical of things like this.
I keep waiting for this forum to get more active, but so far there isn't much happening.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zekira on Oct. 19, '06
Seriously! I *bleep* love this game even though I hate it as an action game, but action games really astonish me.

Sorry.

I can see your not a fan of the thunder breaths. The standard thunder breath can toss enemies around like rag dolls (especially the fully upgraded version, great range, good enemy pick up strength, low mana cost, but little damage). The standard thunder breath is best used in areas where enemies can easily be thrown off high places for near instant kills. It also can be used in tight hallways where you can easily bash weaker enemies against each other and the walls.
The thunder bomb can be of great assistance against more powerful enemies. Lowest level fires just one ball while the fully upgraded version will fire three seperate balls. With the fully upgraded version, get right up and close to a powerful foe and shoot two shots right in a row. Normally the first shot hits and tosses the enemy into the air and when (and sometimes IF) the second shot hits it cages the enemy in lightning and starts dealing a great amount of damage over time. At this point start air meleeing the enemy and either it will die or your will have done a formidable amount of damage against it depending on the level of the enemy. At long range this attack is best suited for giving you time to close in on a single target. As a side note, the thunder fury attack has a residual effect on Spyro. Spyro will remain electrified for a small duration of time, electrocuting nearby enemies as you move around.
I have only seen the fully upgraded version of the Earth Fury attack. Imagine that scene in the Day After Tommorrow where there is that one huge cyclone surrounded by a dozen other smaller ones and that is the fully upgraded Earth Fury attack. The one and only pwn all attack for this game (this statement is opinionated).

Ž · What do you mean I'm not a fan of the Thunder Breath? The Electric Stream is so incredible that my 2nd finish through the game was 3 and 1/2 hours faster than my 1st finish.
Usually, I think up of my combos while in-game, so I really never know what I'm doing unless I'm playing, and all my combos are perfect. I know that because on my 4th finish of the game I NEVER got any damage (I MEAN NEVER, EVER. EVEN IN THE 4TH PART OF CYNDER). But usually my combos are a fan of using melee attacks while stunning enemies with sudden bomb strikes. Let's see if I can remember one of my combos... Oh yes,
...stay in the corner of the room until all opponents stick to each other (or most opponents). Throw the Earth Bomb then throw an Electric Bomb, which already deals major damage. Approach the whirlwind and then double jump. Aerial melee at least 2 enemies simoltaneously, and when the third melee attack comes, estimate Spyro's mouth then throw a Fire Bomb (IN THEIR FACE, LOL). After that, another set of enemies should be flying because of the Fire Bomb, aerial melee them (slow-mo time), then when the 3rd melee attack goes, hold down square while Earth is the element. After the melee attack, use a Tail Strike and then IMMEADIETLY throw a Fire Bomb, then IMMEADIETLY cancel it into 3 seconds of Ice Breath then a couple shots of Earth Breath. Fully melee all remaining opponents while doing the A&A strategy, unless there are more than 5 of them left.
I'm not really sure, my combos are never definite and I don't remember them unless I'm playing.
EDIT: In your opinion Earth Fury is the best? Well you really better try the upgraded Ice Fury. Small range, but it really kills everything before the explosion! It's so powerful...
