First of all, there absolutely NO warning about when you were able to enter Ripto's citadel, & if you missed that one chance-POOF! You have to complete at least another 20% before you have the chance to fight him again! & all that happens when you DO face him is him saying a one-liner & saying, literally "Hocus Pocus!", a crystal shield appears on him...& that's it! He does absolutely nothing! All you have to do is keep flaming him until the shield goes away! & then all Ripto says is "You make me so angry, dragon!" & then... credits(even though this is only the first boss!)
WHAT ON GOD'S EARTH WAS THAT?!?
THEN (Oh yes, there's more!), again you have the COMPLETELEY RANDOM chance of going to the citadel AGAIN! & you know what happens?
He says the EXACT SAME one-liner from LAST TIME! & then (wait for it) he says "Hocus Pocus!" & (guess what?) A CRYSTAL SHIELD appears-AGAIN! & HE DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. AGAIN. But wait! It's not over yet! He says, just after destroying his shield-"Hocus Pocus" &-He get's WWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY bigger! (Why didn't he do that before?) & then he says "Hocus Pocus!" &- A FIRE SHIELD appears! Oh no, that means your flame doesn't work! DUN-DUN-DUN! Well, I won't spoil it for you but let's just say it has something to do with everything I just said happening above, only with Ice breath-Actually that about sums it up! (& guess what? He STILL doesn't do anything!) then he says "You make me so angry, Dragon!"
...Roll credits...?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
HELLO?!?
THEN, you have to complete the game 99.9% to (well at least there's a warning now) go to his citadel AGAIN! & you know what he does?
Just read everything I've written above.
BUT THEN!
He says-(seriously do I have to repeat this?) "Hocus Pocus!"
&. He. Gets. Bigger. than. ever. before.
ONLY THIS TIME-
HE'S A MUTANT RIPTO! PART CRUSH- PART GULP- PART RIPTO!
Only this time he doesn't say "Hocus Pocus!" there's no shield this time! Just a defective sceptre! All you have to do here is attack him ONCE with lightning breath! & Ripto STILL DOESN'T DO ANYTHING!
Then-"You make me so angry, Dragon!"
BUT INSTEAD OF CREDITS...
We get a cutscene that finally explains the reason why Ripto always hated dragons & why he always failed to destroy Spyro since the day they met because his magic wasn't strong enough, conveniently explained by Spyro-(this is the EXACT wording, & the last ever line in the game)
"SILLY RIPTO, YOU'RE A DINOSAUR! DINOSAURS CAN'T USE MAGIC! THAT'S WHY YOU'VE ALWAYS HATED DRAGONS & COULDN NEVER DEFEAT ONE, THEY'RE DINOSAURS THAT CAN USE MAGIC!"
...Then Spyro winks at the camera...
...roll credits...
NEED I SAY MORE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I too was really surprised on the boss fights and lack thereof. I remember on my sole playthrough of the game, I completely skipped past the first phase (too busy focusing on collecting stuff to even notice), only to end up gutted when I found out that I could only break through an ice and fire wall before seeing an end credits thing, and then when I'm finally at 100% the mutant comes around (at least that made it worthwhile). It's just a shame that the story writing on this was pretty weak as far as I'm concerned.

Now here I am wondering what the heck Check Six are doing now. From what I'm finding on Google, this is their only title that saw the light of day on store shelves.

I wasn't too suprised. But it was really easy I started playing the game and failed to finish it for 2 years after i got it. I just stopped playing it and my old ps2 was hard to work with. At least he was easy to beat. He just got repetitive. it was pretty cool how he got all ugly though. I wasn't expecting that.

That's true, but I think it was a bit much, I would have preferred fighting Crush, Gulp, then Ripto.

The only issue I have with Enter the Dragonfly is that once you beat Ripto, you can't go back to the other levels. It just keeps repeating the Ripto fight. Garbage.

When I beat everything on every level in that game, I just save it, and don't bother fighting the bosses, and feel that I beat the entire game. The battle itself is bad, and I can load and play any level I want by not even doing it.
