Re: I'm Very sure....
They didn't have to play it. Sierra could of told them the things from both games.

Re: I'm Very sure....
Krome probably just found those elements to their liking, and used them for The Legend of Spyro...

Re: I'm Very sure....
Normally developers are told to play other games in the seriesbefore making their games.
Cynder Fan: i dont agree, if they only played the originals, dont you think there will be some changes?

Re: I'm Very sure....
Whatever games in the series that they've played (and who knows, maybe they did only play AHT and Shadow Legacy before making ANB), they obviously liked those particular elements. There's nothing wrong with personal preference... I've come to like those game elements myself.

Re: I'm Very sure....
Krome should have played more spyro games before creating TLOS or used elements from those games.

Re: I'm Very sure....
Hmmm, even they played or not they just don't like the old one,
Perhaps looks others games made by Krome for their game style might help. ( I didn't look them though ).
Well, new Spyro somehow remind me of new battle system of FF12 which I don't like.
The time has passed, you know? things could be different, some you would love, some don't and you couldn't change it except they would make some poll or something like that, xp.
However, I'm off with kind of this topic.

Re: I'm Very sure....
WEll, they used the same buttons and the jumping was very Similar to AHT. Combat was very similar to Shadow legacy. If they didn't like the old ones, they shouldn't of made a spyro game.

Re: I'm Very sure....
another reason for this is when the advertised the game they said "first time ever flying levels". THe Sgt byrd minigames in AHT were considered as minigames. But the flying levels in the older spyros were considered flying levels.
Which means they never played the old games to find this out

Re: I'm Very sure....
Let me review your thoughts.
Things they got From AHT: Sparx can talk, Breaths are Square, headbash is Circle, Jumping pattern is very similar, Hunter is a bowman (THe only other times Hunter was a boman was manuals and covers), Gems scatter similar.
Shadow legacy: Dark themed, Combo moves are taken right from Shadow legacy.
Sparx can talk - they HAD to make him talk to fit the theme. Plus he still had a bit of a squeak and a buzz in AHT, so I don't think they wanted to go down that route again.
Control and jumping patterns - I believe those were adjusted to make things easier for non-PS2 gamers of the time (criticisms from those that played Enter the Dragonfly on the GameCube, I think).
Hunter the bowman - he was even a "bowman" in Ripto's Rage, and he even used said bow and arrow set in an orb challenge at Fracture Hills (shooting the Earthshapers to the ground, allowing Spyro to headbash them). So to answer your question, he has ALWAYS been a bowman, just not quite so explicit until AHT.
SL combos - I don't think SL relied entirely on combos but more like wondering what moves work better on what enemies, and there wasn't even a standard several-melee-moves-at-once-for-easy-damage routine so that kind of eradicates that theory.

Re: I'm Very sure....
Sparx can talk- If they only played the originals, they wouldn't of got the idea of him talking
Control And Jump patterns- they're the exact same buttons and the jump looks very similar.
Hunter the bowman- he was, except in only ONE MINIGAME, i dont think if Krome played that they'd get the full idea he was a bowman. He NEVER carries that thing around like robin hood (until AHT)
SL combos-They had to get the idea from this, full stop

Re: I'm Very sure....
About Sparx talking - Ok, giving him a voice is pretty much a necessity. If he didn't get a voice, he would be even more useless than he already is. The voice is pretty much "humor" and entertainment. It's also just another open spot to fill in a big name.

Re: I'm Very sure....
Sparx wasn't useless, he was a hgealth meter, he helps spyro fight gems, he looks after the Speedway levels, he is a playable character. Sparx didn't need a voice, what was wrong with the subtitles we get in the originals and AHT. (im not saying that reguarding TLOS because i know the story is strictly professianal and i support that)

Re: I'm Very sure....
yeah, Darkmasters only from TLOS.
Well, i dont know why i made this topic but well...
Krome should have researched the popularity of the older games and enhanced some of the greatness in their game. They wanted to try something new? well they should have made their own character...

Re: I'm Very sure....
You dont like to share your opinion or share your opinion on others opinions? Thats too bad.
WEll yeah, there is a chance that Krome did play the original Spyros, but it looks like Krome leaned there ideas towards AHT and SL, if they played the originals they might have added portals, powerup gates, the control scheme would have been different, and other things. It doesn'tt really matter if they only played those games, but i am just sharing my thoughts.
