I really don't understand...

...why so many people are expressing their discontent of the L.O.S series.

Sure, it is DIFFERENT then the originals, and unforunately have gotten lower review scores than the originals, but come on!  I perosnally really like the new games, and greatly look forward to the next game coming in October, the movie coming in '09 and this "fan-based" movie of which I have heard very little about and relatively doubt its upcoming existance.

Even though the L.O.S series is a huge step in a differnent direction compared to the originals, I believe that they are still just as, and may I dare say, even better in some cases than the originals!

I just wanted to express my discontent with everyone elses discontent of the game.  Thank you for reading it all.  For saying this, I belive that I'll receive A LOT of disagreement, so I'm ready for it.  Express your opinion just as I have expressed mine.

HEATHEN AND BLASPHEMER!

Seriously, nothing can beat Spyro: Year of the Dragon, it was the best game in the franchise, and IMO, the best game of all time. LoS is absolute crap. I played ANB (which I wasted thirty bucks on...) and cried after playing it for twenty minutes because of its EXTREME drastic change in formula.

First of all, Spyro is not a brawling game, and never should be. Why the hell is there this focus on physical moves? Flame Breath has become useless because you have to recharge it, so the only thing reliable is using a melee attack. Furthermore, Sparx is no longer the health meter. I am aware this was implemented first in Spyro: Shadow Legacy, but to my knowledge, Spyro could only get hit four times, so it wasn't a drastic change in formula. Sparx is just there... he's pointless.

Not only that, but Sparx looks like some kind of *bleep*ing fighter thingy. Seriously, it looks nothing like the original (good) Sparx. Speaking of appearances, what the hell is up with Spyro? He looks like some kind of deformed dragon, no trademark sneer or anything...

Not only that, but the flame meter? This both makes flame breath useless, and puts a timer on flame breath; SPYRO'S SIGNATURE MOVE. And you can barely kill anything with flame breath. While playing ANB, it took too many flame breaths to kill an enemy. Enemies were never meant to be that hard; they were just supposed to be an obstacle between you and the goal. The original challenge in Spyro was the puzzles and platforming, which made Spyro a good and inventive game.

Finally, Elijah Wood sounds like crap as Spyro. I miss Tom Kenny.

That is why LoS is an epic fail. If I had more time and rage, I could probably rant about this for another page or two.

"Enemies were never meant to be that hard; they were just supposed to be an obstacle between you and the goal."

Okay.  Well, if you think enemies are nothing less than obstacles, and aren't SUPPOSED to be hard, then how can you, or any other person, call yourself a real gamer???  An opponent is supposed to do everything they can, or programed to do, in order to prevent you from meeting the goal.  If the enemies were nothing less than "obstacles", with no real difficulty, playing ANY game would be positively pointless!!!!!  Reaching a success, or goal, is most gratifying when you know you did EVERYTHING you possibly could in reaching it.  Having an opponent or enemy that seems not that hard could easily take you out of the game.  Don't you agree?

Re: I really don't understand...

Honestly, now that I see where Tom Kenny's turned *cough*Spongebob*cough*, I don't really look at him in the same light for Spyro as I used to. I mean, Tom Kenny as Spyro portrayed Spyro as a bit... cocky. And yet Spongebob is naive, confident, but can be torn out of his confidence and high self esteem.

The original Spyro games did not shine because the enemies were incredibly hard, its challenge was in its puzzles and platforming, something virtually non-existent in LoS.

i FLIPPING hate it wen you say stuff like that RAIDON!!!

That's the first time I said it. I flipping hate it, however, when you don't capitalize your I's. Honestly, I hate LoS. You will never be able to comprehend why the original Spyro was the greatest thing ever, and this new LoS is garbage, because you're not a 90's kid. You weren't there when it was awesome, and as such, you can't appreciate it for what it is or was.

Re: I really don't understand...

Personally, I didn't like the originals that much except for Year of the Dragon, but that could not hold my interest long compared to A Hero's Tail, Shadow Legacy, and so on.  A New Beginning and Eternal Night were great in my opinion, but could be better.  I mean more RPG elements, more moves, more replay value, and longer gameplay, and unlockables, that's all I ask.  I enjoyed all the voice actors and stuff, just what I said above, and The Legend of Spyro series would be a lot better in my opinion.

Here's my Top 5 Spyro Games if anyone cares:
1.) Spyro: A Hero's Tail
2.) The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night
3.) The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
4.) Spyro: Shadow Legacy
5.) Spyro: Year of the Dragon

Sorry guys.

EDIT: Raidon, that was highly disrespectful of you.  How do YOU know he/she doesn't know what it was like? (sorry, don't know Sails' gender) He/she may have played them before and have a different opinion.  So what?  You have no right to say that.  Everyone has their own opinion, and you don't know nothing about him/her.  Listen, not to be disrespectful myself and I'm sorry, but you're going to have to deal with the fact that people have their own views on Spyro the Dragon.  Get over it.  If you don't like the LoS series, fine.  But don't go all hatred on us all the time, and let someone have different thoughts about it than getting upset and trying to correct an opinon.

Sails is 11. He/She/It was 1 when StD came out. Seriously, the original three can't be recaptured if you didn't play them when they first came out, and I honestly don't care if that's considered disrespectful, because flipping out at me about my opinion first warrants it.

For your information, I am 16, meaning I was born in 1992, meaning that I am also a "90's kid", or at least around for the majority of the decade.  We will never be able to COMPREHEND? I feel offended that you think that just because we are younger and were not actually ALIVE for the entire 90's decade, that we cannot recognize or appreciate the quality of a good game of the '90s when we play one.  I do agree with you, however, that the orignial Spyro games had immense worlds, whereas the L.O.S series is pretty much straight forward.  But age does no justice in recognizing a great game.  If one was born ten, twenty, or even thrity years after the release of a game, and they play it, that person can STILL completely appreciate the game's quality EXACTLY the same as the ones who played that same game when it was first released.  Saying that one cannot appreciate a game because they weren't around is completely narrow-minded....

I wasn't alive for the entire 90's either. What I'm saying is, you have to enjoy the original Spyros when they were still new, because they, unfortunately, can't hold up to modern games.

That is so not true.

Time doesn't mean something is not enjoyable.  I didn't play that many Megaman games until Megaman Anniversary Collection and Megaman X Collection came out, which was around.  And I enjoyed them big time, and guess what, Megaman started in 1987, and each year, one came out...

It's like you're saying that I would have to be around in the 1980s in order to play the games and enjoy them to their fullest.  I'm sorry, but what you said is a load of bull.  People can enjoy old games too, even if it's their first time.  Heck, I started playing Super Mario World last year and Super Mario World was made in 1991...and I like it, a lot.

Re: I really don't understand...

Yay! ANOTHER Rant Page! Get your popcorn, Ratchet's Joining the arguement, and its going to get NASTY! (Jokes XD)
Raidon: Hey, even thought i have much more to say on this matter, and what you said was a very minor thing, i totally agree with you.
SpyroJoe 2: Not all Games are supposed to have hard enemies, or even enemies at all.
Sails_the_fox: Well he's sharing his opinion, live with it
Blaze the Dragon: Whats the matter with him being cocky? no one is perfect, and thats why i dont like New Spyro
Raidon 2: Yes, thats true
Jay Tonoshi: "Everyone has their own opinion" There it is again!
Sails_the_fox 2: Lol, im a 90s kid but still not an adult
Spyrojoe 3: I agree, sorry Raidon, yet Raidon is kinda right. Alot of people LOOOOOOVE the original SMB, but i think its just plain annoying. This is because the people who LOOOOOOOVE mario grew up with him.

I Have alot more to say on this, but i think you al kno0w that i will come up with dozens of reasons why i think TLOS was a mistake and NOTHING compared to the originals.

I like the TLoS series a wee bit more than the original. I think it has a more action paced game.

It is a matter of personal preference.
