Re: Which character does "This Broken Soul" refer to???
I agree Razz that Cynder is torn.. however it could also refer to the fact that Spyro has lost his powers ie the ancient spirit within is silent. The Chronicler helped remind him of his powers and reawoke them. But , me being the romantic tyope, I prefer to think it about Cynder calling out help and support..

Re: Which character does "This Broken Soul" refer to???
Oh, yes, I agree that she's calling out to Spyro, too. I think the song is a lot about how confused she is. She's calling out to anyone who will help her, but especially to a purple dragon (two of which have had serious impacts on her life).

Re: Which character does "This Broken Soul" refer to???
we already kniow ionly one of those purple dragons will help her in any positive sense and only one of them has feelings for her. The dark Master wil either take her back, or kill her in front of Spyro, anything to break our young hero's heart. and I don't think the 'fights' are really going to fool him, they;'ve allready faked it twice..three times is going to the well too much..

Re: Which character does "This Broken Soul" refer to???
I think it's about Cynder too, and if you want to hear the song, I FOUND this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU6VwbOuU7I
Favorite Pokemon of Whenever: Lucario, because the 3 newest episodes had one in them!
... Yeah, not Spyro related again... oh, I might not be on much. *empty*

Yeaaah somehow I don't think he was falling for it by that point, huh? Still the dark master no doubt believes he can manipulate her...
Its a lvoely song. I expect it refers to mainly spyro, but some bits work so well for Cynder.

Scarab, hi! *waves* I will eventually read your full post about the song when I ever get the time. For whatever reason, I've suddenly fallen very behind in my 'net stuff. I'm thinking it has something to do with that website or some such.

Re: Which character does "This Broken Soul" refer to???
When Neal sent an email to the composers of TLOS music, they said it was about Spyro's relationship to ignitus. Not Cynder to Spyro.

Re: Which character does "This Broken Soul" refer to???
Hmmm Spyro to Ignitus ?? Possible but I still don't think so - read the lyrics of the song - Spyro's found his home, he knows where he came from however Cynder hasn't - she doesn't know that Spyro and her share the same home, and hopefully this'll be covered off in #3

Re: Which character does "This Broken Soul" refer to???
There's no arguing with the composers, V32. I was honestly quite stunned and I'm going to have to listen to the song again, but I think I can see how it could be about Spyro and Ignitus, especially now that Spyro has lost his way.
I know a certain Ignitus fan who's going to be really pleased.

Re: Which character does "This Broken Soul" refer to???
I say Cynder.
"Look in his heart and find me"
I really think that means its Cynder, because it doesn't seem that Spyro would say something like that. And I guess it could be from Spyro to Ignitus, but guys usually don't show their friendship/gratitude to one another like that.
"I've lost my way
Your voice is silent
I need you here to remind me"
This can perhaps mean that Cynder needs Spyro there to remind her that she isn't pure evil and that she can be a better person.
"Let the water flow right through this broken soul"
You would think after being corrupted and forced to do horrible things against your will that you would be depressed or heart broken.
"Fought by your side
ashes still burning
I've proved my worth
so tell me why"
Meh, Cynder has helped Spyro fight against the DM. And in the third game, it's going to be co-op so......
"Tell me that you can forgive
bring me peace that I may live"
Cynder has done terrible things in the past, and then she runs away, she must feel bad about some of it and is probably seeking Spyro's forgiveness since he is really her only friend. I guess the Guardians could be considered friends, but they're more like parents.

Re: Which character does "This Broken Soul" refer to???
It has been confirmed that it is Ignitus and Spyro. I conducted an interview with the TLoS composers and they said so.
SW: Where did you find the inspiration for the music and lyrics for “This Broken Soulâ€, and at which point in the game's development did you think that you would add a vocal track for the end credits?
B&G: We talked about doing a song right at the beginning of working on Eternal Night. The producers liked the idea, and we were excited to do it. It was a nice way to incorporate some of the other strengths we have into the big orchestral stuff. The inspiration from the song came from Spyro’s relationship to Ignitus...

That is pretty cool. I can kind of see how it works in many places but it's not something I picked up on when I analysed the song myself... looking back, I can see the relevance, though it COULD still apply to many other characters.
Now that I think about it: the "Let the water flow" line just took on a new meaning... Ignitus placed Spyro's egg in the river at the start of ANB, right?

Re: Which character does "This Broken Soul" refer to???
Yep that's right Scarab
But still Spyro has found his home, take Cynder's line to him from TEN ... she hasn't, even though he and Cynder share the same home she don't know it because she was taken away before she even hatched so she don't know that she belongs with Spyro and the others

You're pretty much right there, Rassek. The writers hath spoken, after all. But you're also right that we can always imagine, and it IS uncannily suited to other characters and scenarios.

Whoops, that's a slightly worrying typo, then. I guess I'm so used to seeing Rassek's name...
Finally, you've accepted the "live and let live" philosophy (I kid, Ratchet.)
