If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

My game ideas:

Continue From YOTD with my Gate of Sacrea game, It will feature multiple playable characters, Powerups can only be achieved for a period of time (by going through those gates just like the originals), however they can only be powered up by collecting a certain amount of gems in each level (like the spirits in Spyro 2).
Old characters will return.
Sparx will keep his buzzing but will have subtitles
Colectables defiently included
New minigames
Maybe Double jump but no Combo moves crap or tonn of breath attacks
Portals included
All new themed levels aswell as characters, enemies and fodder
Humourous, not dark
There will be tonnes of levels and they will be a bit bigger (Not XBOX huge like AHT).
Some New Features

Atleast for the first of my Spyro games will go under that System, the system is very similar to Insomniac's system.
I also plan to make a Gnasty/Ripto team game (it will explain Ripto's ressurection), Time game (its a maybe but i REALLY like time machines and stuff like that), A party/Racing game (a maybe, but i think Spyro deserves atleast one), Remake of ETD and Spyro 1/2/3

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

It's nice to talk but it's hard way to make it happen... well, messing with thousand or maybe million of variables.

I only disagree with...
"Maybe Double jump but no Combo moves crap or tonn of breath attacks"
Because he should use his wings to perform 2 times height. ( okay, you alreadt knew that, xp )
No Combo is alright.
ton of breath attacks, oh, I guess he can't control his breath for sure...
( like mage who have too much power, so the power control himself or stuff like that )

Oh and I love to explore, so make a-lot of sight seeing things, XD.
And yes, time cycling, I don't like to always stick with daybreak in one location.

Anyways, you forget "F" in topic name.

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

Yes, I know that Game Making is as hard as well.... Rocket Science, but theres some Game designers who do have the skill, but the wrong ideas on everything.
The Only problem with double jump is that you cant hover. Besides, Spyro doesn't need a double jump, it was just a suggestion.
I Would rather just that fire is unlimited and other breaths are gained Via Powerup Gates.

Sounds great to me. I would love a game that continues off the originals. The game you have in mind sounds fun.

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

It sounds like a very good game that i would love to play, a game worth the title as a continue after Year of the dragon. I think a humourous game like the originals would be far more easy to enjoy for me than the dark Eternal Night. But what would the graphics be like?

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

Sadly, I won't like it. Here's why.

- Multiple characters. This is an aspect that A Hero's Tail failed at; allowing you to juggle too many control schemes, all too variantly distinguished from one another. This is a "Spyro" game, not "Spyro and the gang". >.>
- Sparx was a more upfront character in the Legend arc. Prior to then, he was completely non-existant, so I would prefer the talking stuff.
- No combos/tons of breaths. Look, in the era of A Hero's Tail, most platformers moved onto having enemies take so many hits before perishing instead of getting smited in one single charge/flame. I want this to stay to invoke some form of strategy.
- Humor. I may like something funny, but if it's going to be AHT funny, then I will frown at it because it's going towards its ridiculously younger audience again, and THAT was what made me almost ditch the Spyro series altogether. Let Crash deal with humor. -_-
- Minigames. If they HAVE to be included there needs to be a point and used at the bare minimum, because this isn't a party game when they would be completely dominant. I'd rather have one or two per world, not all the freakin' time.

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

Your idea is well thought-out, Ratchet, but I would have to agree with Rexy on this one.
- There is no doubt that I am, and ever will be, a vivid Spyro fan, but I SERIOUSLY HATED the minigames!!!
- I thoroughly enjoy Sparx's character in the L.O.S series...at least now he has his very own character, he's RELEVANT to the story. = )
- Death to the fodder.  Krome Studios had an excellent idea in allowing the gems to be Spyro's "life-force", it's way better and more realistic that way.
- I really like the variety of breaths Spyro has, rather than the regular, and widely expected, fire.  Also a fan of the melee attacks!
- I am really enjoying the "dark" nature of the L.O.S series, rather than the "happiness and dreaminess" of the originals.  There is nothing I would love more than for "The Darkest Hour" to have a TEEN rating.  That would make the game SO MUCH COOLER!!!

Oh lord, as much as I appreciate the Legend arc, I think a Teen rating would overkill it. >.> It's going to give me similar vibes to Shadow the Hedgehog if it comes to happen, and you know how bad *that* was.

Look, there may not have been "noon type sun" but we got a nice twilight at the Ancient Grove and sunset skies sweeping Fellmuth. How than that be "too dark"?

1.Variety in gaming is getting more needed so having extra playable characters is a really good thing. If you cant remember the control schemes, go to the doctor, in Spyro 3 there were only 3 buttons to remember - Square/Circle was usually the attack and X was the jump button.
2. Excuse me! Even though he wasn't very narrative in the originals, doesn't mean he wont be narrative in this game.
3. Spyro isn't that kind of Platformer, i know the enemies were a sinch to kill but who cares (besides you and a who;e heap of peopl), spyro isn't a brawl game.
4.Not AHT funny, no
5.1 or 2 a world? Yeah, that Was Spyro 3, so thats fine with me. But it doesn't matter if hes a Party Game or not, hes a unique platformer.

1.If you hated the minigames, too bad. THey were fun and part of Spyro.
2.hes just the comic relief, i'm not making him talk, subtitles only like he was to be
3. NO! IM NOT LETTING GEMS BE HEALTH, SPARX IS THE HEALTH BAR LIKE SPYRO WAS WHEN HE WAS UNIQUE, DEATH TO KROME STUDIOS.
4. No Melee attacks, Spyro isn't a brawl game. AS for the breaths, powerup gates ONLY
5. Nope, NO Dark feel at all

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

sounds good to me....but i was thinking if you could leave out the 500 gems in one level like thing...finding all those gems was way to long and anoying. Also with the locked chests and haveing to go to the end of the level just to get the key....that to is anoying.

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

Gems wont be as needed in This game, there will be a certain amount per level (like the originals, not like AHT), and you wont need all gems to enter 100% Though you will need gems to Pay Moneybags, activate powerup gates, and You will be rewarded if you collect all the gems in a level.

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

Great ideas Ratchet. I like the whole ditching TLOS thing. Only two problems:

1. Several playable characters gets annoying. The main thing I didn't like about Sonic adventure DX was too many characters to play as.

2. When you said that it would be coming out on "that console" did you mean XBOX only? Because I don't have an XBOX.

it sounds good but dont make the humour all sucky and young like AHT. At leaast make the humour something peole over the age of 10 can enjoy.

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

The humor i thought about that was when hunter asks spyro if he should follow hm and spyro quickly says no and that he didnt need any more help. and the part when spyro was talking to the mermaid and before you started off again he did one of those head shacking things then said chicks...which honestly was funny. Ratchet if u do make a few spyro games, you should add that kind of humor to the game.

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

heres what i'll do, i'll make some humour picking on old Spyro games (like AHT and TLOS), Some humour picking on Video games, some black yet subtle humour, and some avarage humour.

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

It sounds nice, but the one thing I absolutely loathed about the new Spyro games was playing as multiple characters. It just never clicked with me, and I dunno about you, but 'most people' in this thread so far don't seem to like the idea either.
But it's your game (if you decide to make it), so do what'cha want. big_smile

Re: If I Were To Make A Spyro Game or two...

Its strange that so many people would love to play as Cynder But when i mention extra playable characters they get all angry. Spyro is a variety game, and so would have much variety, including extra playable characters. And one of the reasons why people dont like Spyro 1 or TLOS is because they are too repetative.
