"they were goin' nowhere fast" What the hell is that supposed to mean?
i found that TLOS was an abomination, seeing it had practically nothing to do with Spyro, and the change wasn't needed. Its like the Hotel Mario or the Link: Faces Of Evil of Spyro, but even worse.

I would go down to the peaple who made spyro and I would beg them to make more spyros and if they didint I would cry all my life and never play a playstashon 1 or a ps2 ever again

Umm, yes it is. I don't even get what you mean by going nowhere fast. Just because technology advances, it doesn't make the old Spyro Masterpieces obsolete. I like Spyro because its fun, inventive, innovative, and quirky all at the same time. I think ETD was the last good Spyro game. The ones after it were just... Meh... And LoS is terrible. LoS is not fun, nor inventive or innovative (Come on, they use the same damn models for enemies in both of the games. Changing the skins does not count) and its not quirky. Yes, Sparx has some one liners. The one liners were better in the Insomniac trilogy.

Jeez, it seems like all I do is bash LoS around here...

I have to agree with the upstart airhead here [Arcane X] in his statment of "Just Joking" other than that, he's blinded.

The Gameplay in the first series was something to throuw a parade about, and for the time, the places were the most beatufl money could get, sadily, the thing that made Spyro ended up killing him [Im talking about money here people, Insomanac did NOT kill Spyro, money did] with Insomnaec needing more diverse funds and a larger cash flow. Thus it ends with us in tears

The new series however is gamplay retarded with bland enviroments and foes, the only thing redeming is the fact the Spyro now has a driving force besides "If you collect enough gems, I'll let you go through this portal" [ugh, stupid bear and ballon dude!] Thus, we must come to a compromise as we cant seem to have both here. As far as Im concerned, I'll be a fan of Spyro untill they change his color, not his nose.

What i meant by going nowhere fast was after Enter the dragonfly they seemed to be running out of ideas. AHT was pretty good though.
Raidon, i never said that the old ones were bad, they just got boring for me after a while. And i don't think i'm ever going to get along with you on the subject on T.L.o.S...i found it better than the old ones, maybe just because i prefer the action type games rather than platforming. The old ones were fun, but they had nothing but gameplay, which isn't the first thing i look for in a game. Anyway, they don't change the model because he doesn't get any older between games. The old one did. Meh...but you have your opinion. And Corky what the hell are u talkin about? i don't even know you...i think you might've mistaken me for someone else...(i'm not even a girl LOL)

Even IF they were running out of ideas, they didn't have to reboot, they could of just made Spyro an action game and introduce some more characters and stuff about Spyros past. They werent really running out of ideas, they just thought that because the originals were so great, why change the gameplay. BTW, the old Spyro only got 2 chances on 6th generation Home consoles, very poor. I say the same about TLOS, they get very boring after a while, they are very repetative, maybe you just like bashing the crap out of enemies and playing against annoying and frustrating bosses, but seriously it may be because you Do like action games better. wait, didn't you just say that the originals got boring after a while, now you are saying that they were "Fun"... anyway... The original Spyro did have more than gameplay (Think f some logical reasons for your opinion before you post) they had a great, colourful and immaginative design for enemie, levels, backgrounds and characters, the characters were really good and fun themselves. They werent as involved with story as TLOS, but Spyro 2 and 3 did have a good story, but no one seemed to recogise that. The originals had things like interesting frogs, enemies chasing and killing other enemies, all those great little stuff, and ALOT more than just gameplay. And dont get me started on how great the music, sound affects and voices were.

I don't just like bashing the crap out of enemies (its fun for a while though) and i meant that the originals were fun at the START, but after a while they became boring. i dunno about you but running around burning sheep, collecting gems, and doing whatever the hell some crazy wannabe animal tells you to do just wasn't enough for me. heck yeah, i like killing things in games more than collecting, which is one reason why i was more attracted to T.L.o.S than the first series, but its not the only reason i prefer it. i think that the design of the new Spyro's fine, and the levels of the originals weren't that great, nor were the enemies. Meh, we all have our different opinions, but can we cut down on arguments? s'far as i can tell they only *bleep* people off. big_smile

if we *bleep* people off, we do, i have had people say to me that i shouldn't be angry about peoples posts, saying that the originals were this or that. JUst look at my Frequent Comment responses or http://www.spyroforum.com/topic-3467-fr … onses.html to see what i have to say about all those annoying posts. Every game is fun at the start, i found TLOS fun at the start, i enjoyed button mashing, but after a while i got bored, just like you with the original trilody and heck, it happens with every game, i get bored with the original trilogy after a while too (But not as much as TLOS), because the originals had such a variety in gameplay, its like playing 40 games in one. Spyro 1 was a total different story, it's gameplay was quite repetative, all you did was go around, toast enemies, collect gems and free dragons, you had a few side quests like flying levels, but Spyro 1 was great to, there were puzzles and it was an exploring frenzy, and that is just what collecting is, its exploring in disguise, its just so you get something out of exploring. I know some people who get addicted to TLOS and thats good for them, there brain is probably different to mine, but i can find reasons why TLOS isn't the greatest. The Sheep was for health, its just like me saying "smashing spirit crystals just wasn't enough for me", the "wannabee animals" as you call them are characters, and much more inventive then TLOS will ever be. Now looking at this, what YOU are trying to say is that in the origionals, this is what happens "Your going around, collecting gems, oh look a sheep lets burn it, oh look a "wannabee animal" i am going to ask him what to do" THat sounds funny, but it isn't true, it is more like this "alright i have made it to the 2nd world, shall i go back and do the sparx challenge or get 100% in any of those worlds, maybe go in the speedway, or try out some levels here, maybe i should try and beat some minigames, or collect some gems so that i can pay moneybags later, wait, Sparx is on green, might get some health first".
THe Levels in the originals came in many numbers, and had there own unique design and characters/enemies. The TLOS levels are typical gaming levels, and are straight faward, and they all have monkeys. Look at the enemies/characters in the originals, THey may look catoony and "undetailed" but they are all different and once again... unique, not all monkeys and they dont all make the same sound. I know tat you are going to say "Spyro 1 had all gnorcs and Spyro 3 had all rynocs" Firstly, Spyro 1 and 3 had more enemies tyhan gnorcs and rynocs, secondly they all wore different things, had their own attack weapons and abilities, and came in all shapes and sizes... and they werent just the same enemies with similar palettes. And please, my number 1 in FCR "Meh, we all have our different opinions" i find that very annoying.

But that is the thing though. Everyone has an opinion and that just happens to be yours, but that wasn't the point of the thread though; save it for somewhere else.

Myself, if Activision's CEO really DOES take over the game pitching processes at the Activision/Blizzard merger and completely scrap Spyro titles altogether after TDH, then I would be most displeased. Normally I would also have Crash to turn to but that's under the same boat, so this means that they would potentially throw a huge chunk of my adolescent life out of the window here.

As far as platformers go, I have basically nowhere else to turn to. Sonic console titles were deemed doomed the minute Sonic Adventure was pitched; Donkey Kong wasn't really any good without Rare; the Jak series has been in limbo for quite a while now (I know Daxter was fairly recent but that was 2 years ago; surely they'd announce something new at E3 otherwise my faith in that is lost); Sly Cooper sealed its doors shut after a spectacular trilogy; a new Klonoa title out here will be a miracle given how long it's been since the release of Dream Champ Tournament; Ape Escape seems doomed in America hence concerns for localisations in European territories are also in doubt; Rayman reverted to this whole minigame crap with the Rabbids (give me a proper platformer!!); Oddworld shut its doors too soon; Mario, while fun, pretty much has a very minimal childhood attachment to me (i.e. I don't get the whole nostalgic business with the series) and Ratchet & Clank, which could be my only saving grace, is confined onto a platform that has a seriously bad reputation with us PAL gamers concerning pricings, the uprising of the lame 40GB model and not much else in terms of games.

I can be able to try something new every now and again, but this is going to be the problem now. While most gamers will end up telling their kids of great games that they experienced as a kid and willing to express their knowledge to their offspring, I'd pretty much have nothing to reflect on in order to associate with the youth of tomorrow. If I can't even do that, then odds are I'd be isolated and mentally grow old faster out of anguish.
