I started playing spyro when it first came out, back in '98 (i think). The first three spyro games were, and still are, some of the finest games ever created. Insomniac pushed the limits of their technology, followed the platforming formula well while making some innovative modifications, and infused the whole thing with creative level and character design that brought the Dragon Realms to life.

As I read this forum, I see a split between fans of the old spyro and fans of the new spyro. I'm not saying the new spyro games are terrible, but i'm not totally sold on them either. But no matter where you are, it seems that the two sides are constantly clashing. Alot of good topics have gotten caught up in debates over the new vs. the old. And its an important discussion to have. Which is why i made this post. I think if we just have it out once and for all, not only would it make for some epic forumage, but it could help us all to come to a better understanding of spyro's origins and his future.

So i pose the question: Which was better, the original 3 Spyro games made by Insomniac, or the LOS series, made by Krome?

I agreee, too many topics have been infamed with debate, and i am a starter, but i dont think that a big topic debate is neccesary, we all have our own opinions, none are defiently right. To share my opinion, I recon the original 3 are better by far, and everybody knows that.

Alot of people here will put as their reasons for liking TLOS- "Its storyline OWNS", and probably one of the only favoured things by me (yet i prefer the older Characters alot better). They really have no other reasons. My opinion and yeah you didn't offend me Doppel!

Hmm. You already know that I hate TLOS so I'm not going to do what I usually do. Seriously though, what has happened to people? Why can't they see that TLOS is not what Spyro should be? Why did they turn Spyro into such a dark/fighting game?

Spyro has been thrown around by so many companies and none of them have achieved what Insomniac did. It's just...dissapointing. Upsetting almost. When I was younger I hoped that the next Spyro game after YOTD would be the same. It wasn't. I didn't make much noise about it then, but when I bought ANB I had second thoughts about Spyro.

I guess it's just the memories I had that make me happy about the old Spyro games. I want them to make one last game. It should be like the old games, a perfect Spyro game, and finalise the entire franchise.

Many argue that Spyro can not be like that, because many people including critics get tired of the same thing, And Spyro who is a much limited Character, needed a whole overhaul. And that is why the rebot was needed. Now Fans and critics are even more upset with the reboot, there has been more fans, yet alt of unhapiness. I like Change, but TLOS changed too much, it forgot about the Originals, just wiped it off, and replaced it with Something else.
Game_Girl has told me to stop arguing and saying how bad TLOS is because i sound like a broken record, well i do, i know that i've posted a very similar post to thins a number of times, but i dont care, So rantagainst me, bann me, do whatever.

Well yes as you said ratchet the TLoS has a greater storyline, much greater than the old games i think. But There ARENT two sides to this, the TLoS lovers most of them like the old games as well. but technology has advanced and graphics have changed. I am one who is not one sided, I personally love both series. also if you admit that you go ON about it ratchet then why to you keep making topics such as 13 reasons why the origionals are better? eh? <_< o_O :? :?: Ã°

Hmmm...

T.L.o.S is AWESOME!!!!
Everything about it is better than the old ones except for the length. The other ones got boring (well, even these ones have gotten a bit boring...but only after i've played it a hundred times)
Disagree if me if you want, and i know you will, it won't make a difference.

I'm still holding strong on the originals, but I've come to my senses more on the newer series. I'm not a hatin' on it. I don't think it's half as bad as many say it is. Yeah, it has its pros and cons, but it's not to the point where it just disgusts me.
Hmm.
But it would be pretty nice if a game similar to the originals was released. No doubt about that in my mind. :-P

"keep making topics": Actually, 13 reasons is basicly the only poic i have made saying why I Favour the originals, i have made O bashing TLOS topics. You could say FCR is one, but that is different.

TLOS isn't bad, it is just nothing compared to the originals... in my opinion.
Both TLOS and the originals get boring after a while for me, but more TLOS, because the originals had a tonn of variety. TLOS is somewhat addictive at times because basing the crap outta enemies is fun.

But the whole POINT of it is that it IS a new angle. and i personally like the degree theyre comming from (bad pun sorry).
In the origionals spyro was never as powerful as he could have been. The new ones show just how strong a purple dragon can be. in the old ones he was never any different from the others except that he never seemed to grow. This lets us experince a whole new power

In Spyro 1 and 3, Spyro was obviously the only small dragon (because you never saw one in Spyro 1 at the time and The Elder's words in first Cutscenes in Spyro 3) and he was the only one who could do the mission.
Spyro 1: Only one not frozen
Spyro 2: Only Dragon Avalar could get
Spyro 3: Only dragon could fit through hole
Anyway, Spyro doesn't "need" to be powerful or Special, he is just there to help.

See my 13 reasons why originals are favoured by me.... Anyway, the originals werent all about puzzles no, thoughg there were some in it, As for TLOS, so far i havn't seen many at all yet, i've rolled some balls and slid some statues, pushed a few buttons and lit a few statues and that is about it.

in response ratchet. Yes spyro was meant to be special because he was a purple dragon born in the year of the dragon. but hes not special. in the new ones he is

IN the old ones, that rule does not reply, he was just a hero because he was courageous and confident and the only one for the job...

A Few things....
A. All or most dragons are born in THe Year of the dragon, there is nothing special about that
B. They made comments saying that he was special, and he was special because he was very courageous and confident, not because he had a tonn of powers

Very Heroic? Look at Legend Of Zelda, Link doesn't have alot of powers, yet he is still a hero, this is the same with original Spyro.
