Re: Should Spyro's Kingdom Continue Classic Spyro Or Legend Spyro?
I would be good with a continuation of either of the two series. Both series musn't be compared with each other, but must be viewed seperately.
The Legend series isn't worse than the Original series or vice versa, it's just something different, and both are great on their own.
I would also be cool with a total reboot.

I would really want them to connect the series somehow. It will mean alot to some fans and possibly the LOS Storyline can impact on the original universe.

Re: Should Spyro's Kingdom Continue Classic Spyro Or Legend Spyro?
I want a complete remake of the TLOS series. This time with a deeper story and less plot holes (voice acting and visual effects could be improved, and features should be added). I want to know EVERYTHING (ok, a lot of things) that happened in the world. How long did it take for Hunter to find Spyro? What did he do on the way? What happened to the other adult dragons and all the apes?
Yo, Spyro

Yeah, like taking the best elements out of both series and combine them for a new series (a series with the best things of both).
What would you consider the best elements of each series that you'd like to see combined?

All the apes were cursed by Malefor for false loyalty, and turned into shadows of their former selfs.
I would like to know what happened to all other dragons too, I refuse to believe there are no dragons left in the world besides Spyro, Cynder and the Guardians.

I think it would be stupid to remake a series that just ended. They should have done it right the first time.

I really cant decide which one to continue from. Im splitting for either or equally. I have my own expectations for if it goes one way or another. how ever if it goes in a different way then praise to my other friends who would most likely be willing to take the game from me to save its life and not be utterly destroyed IF its own new idea for a direction is worse then DotD.

That's one reason why some of us entertain the idea of a merging timeline or such. We're so split and we care more about the existance of a new game, rather than the appearance or generation.

Re: Should Spyro's Kingdom Continue Classic Spyro Or Legend Spyro?
Returning to the Orig. story line would be difficult after Enter the Dragonfly, and A Hero's Tail which were widely ignored comapired to their perquils. tLoS series has steadily risen in copies sold and thus is an un-broken story line. Personaly, I could care less which, but marketing wise, and logicaly, I think tLoS would be the best choice.
Ratchet: I agree 100% with the no re-make of tLoS. Indeed they should have done it right the first time through.

I think tLoS would be the best choice.
There is no better choice, though. Both series are different and are equally good. It's like comparing Fallout to Sonic.
It wouldn't be logical to continue LOS and completely ditch the classic gameplay (and missing out on half of the fanbase). Vice-versa is true as well.
Returning to the Orig. story line would be difficult after Enter the Dragonfly, and A Hero's Tail which were widely ignored comapired to their perquils.
Why do you think that all of the console Spyro games up to (and including) ANB, went Platinum but the others didn't? Sure, ANB sold the most compared to TEN and DOTD but that's just because people were interested to see what "The Legend of Spyro" was. I was one of them (not even being aware that it is a reboot).
If a game got Greatest Hits/Platinum status, it is not ignored. It is logical and market-wise to either bring both series together into one series or work on both series.
There is no other way.

I love sypro so I will enjoy the game no matter what universe it is in. But my vote is the LOS series. The reason being going back to the original would be like walking backward.

They kinda did that with LoS.

Re: Should Spyro's Kingdom Continue Classic Spyro Or Legend Spyro?
Sorry about my last post here being too angry. I'm just contemplating that both series should come back, so that all of us would be satisified in the end. I've seen this with Rayman and Sonic. And seeing how Activision is really milking out every single penny from Crash Team Racing clones on the Iphone, it's only a matter of time that both Spyros will come back.
Fine, I'll just say that DotD was a pile of *bleep*
Dotd wasn't all that bad. But it wasn't quite as good as I had hoped it would have been. That's all I'll say right now.

Re: Should Spyro's Kingdom Continue Classic Spyro Or Legend Spyro?
It's a reasonable assumption that the TLOS series has less dedicated fans than the classics, so I guess it's better to go with a more classic approach, as long as it's not like Spyro or Sonic 4.

Re: Should Spyro's Kingdom Continue Classic Spyro Or Legend Spyro?
Where's the "both" option?
I personally prefer if they mixed it up. But, if I had to choose, I go with classic.
Who knows? My biggest fear is that the game would be the same style as Dawn of the Dragons.
I reckon Dawn Of the Dragon is the best becoz it doesnt have any babyish annoyance in it!

Ahem, all games do have at least something silly in them, regardless of their age rating. A game called Morrowind (which is 12+ so you know) has an elf who thinks that he is a cat. No joke. Every time I pass him, he keeps saying "Meow" at me. If that's not babyish annoyance, I don't know what is.
And I think that Dotd is the best Spyro game so far too ...along with Year of the Dragon.
But I like it not because it has nothing light-hearted (actually, I find that creepy), but because the devs did make an effort and it is the only non-Insomniac Spyro game which made me think "Where did the hours go?" after I watched the credits. Yeah.

Re: Should Spyro's Kingdom Continue Classic Spyro Or Legend Spyro?
Latias fan, I don't have any other choice on the "best non-Insomniac Spyro game". ETD is too glitchy, AHT I don't feel like playing for very long (for some reason), ANB and TEN have a VERY blocky combat system...
Dawn of the Dragon does have Sparx as a Gary Stu and Cynder as a Mary Sue and sure, it is too short but it's great. Mainly because I'm obsessed with magic combat.
My expectations are not low. I think that Sonic '06 sucks rotten eggs with its 4 minute long load times and a romance between a human and a hedgehog (*shudders*).
PS: How can you beat a meowing elf as "babyish"?

Re: Should Spyro's Kingdom Continue Classic Spyro Or Legend Spyro?
I like magic in games. I love, love, love using fire, ice, electricity...etc
to destroy enemies. I spent about 300+ hours with an RPG called Morrowind (which imo has the BEST combat system with magic and weapons) and it does have cheesy voices (it gets annoying when elves keep on making remarks like "Ho friend, how about a potion today?" though).
Clock-la, I have high expectations. That's why when a game does NOT impress me within the first five minutes, I will NOT in any chance in hell buy that game. I play game demos in order to make up my mind about a purchase.
My mood also varies from time to time, so sometimes I play a game for litterally two minutes and then switch over to another game. No kidding. That happens with all games, even the Spyro classics which I love.
Well. I'm off to play Morrowind. The cave of Shal awaits me.

I can't believe what I'm reading! How could you people say someone's expectations aren't good/too low or whatever? As far as I know each person sets their own expectations, everyone can decide for themselves the rate of their expectations.

Thank you, darkhorus. There is nothing wrong with liking both the Legend and Classic series equally. Whichever game I play depends on my mood. Nothing else.

Re: Should Spyro's Kingdom Continue Classic Spyro Or Legend Spyro?
Out of those? Classic.
But I would prefer a mix. I'd like to see more classic-like gameplay in a classic universe that doesn't try to take itself to seriously, but I'd also like a good story that's somewhat deep with characters that I can actually like.
In other words, I'd take the gameplay and environment from the classics and the story-centered-ness from LoS, but I'd make the story much more enjoyable.
