Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"

I like the idea of universal save data.  Now if my Sony fanboy friend and my Microsoft fanboy friend have Skylanders, I can continue my own Wii game data in their dorm rooms.  I have a feeling this will be very popular in college.  If I'm right, Activision needs to learn to better predict a target audience.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"

If Skylanders sells well, Activision will continue with another Skylanders game and have Spyro be in his own series again.

Eh, I'm willing to give it a go. I gave LoS a go, so why not this one too? Sure, it might not be 100% centered around Spyro, but oh well. It looks okay from what I've seen, that's good enough for me.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"

It's better to play the game yourself, then let a character design, demos, and video of the game still working in progress make the decision for you.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"

Jazz wore shades in his early game production, Agent 9 only had pupils, and Missingno of Pokemon Red/Blue was meant to be the unmasked Cubone/baby Kangaskan.  Oh, and Spyro was meant to have the rolling ability from Spyro 1 in the first sequel.
I have a feeling a lot will change.  I just hope they don't add Sonic and tripping ability, delaying the release date to March 9th (not that that has ever happened in a game with a 30+ character roster, with at least one of them being a well-established character.)

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"

Aren't pro-Skylanders people "judging the book by its cover" by "giving it a chance" just because it's a Spyro game...? I mean, would any of us care at all about this if it didn't have Spyro in it? Probably not. That's like the definition of judging the book by its cover.

So I think "judging" this game based on what we know so far (and I think I know enough to have an idea of what it'll be like) makes much more sense than giving something clearly made for young kids a chance just because it has Spyro in it.

If you think it looks fun whether or not Spyro is in it, fine. That makes sense, and this doesn't apply to you.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"

Everywhere on game articles of Skylanders, I spot hate comment after hate comment on the game, like 'This isn't MY Spyro!' or 'Spyro looks ugly, no way I'll get this game.'. When obviously, they haven't seen the finished product nor played the game themselves to completely judge it. It's like all that matters to some fans are the character designs of Spyro and the game developer.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"

Well yeah, judging it based on how Spyro looks is pretty stupid. But saying it deserves a chance just because Spyro is in it isn't any better.

You can tell if something looks good to you or not based on the plot, a trailer, samples of gameplay, and the age group it's for, right? Because we have all of that information. My guess is that most of the people who are judging the game see past Spyro's looks. They see that, based on all the information given, it doesn't sound like a good game. I've seen many good arguments against this game that have nothing to do with how Spyro looks.

Whereas people who cry "Give this a chance!" when people are (not without good reason) negative about it seem to only see that the game has a purple dragon named Spyro in it, therefore it must be worth their time.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"

Character designs doesn't really have to make a video game good to play...

Did you read my post? I never said character designs had anything to do with what makes a game good or bad. =/

I know, I was just saying that character designs doesn't make a game good instantly.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"

If you say so. It just seemed like you were trying to argue that with me seeing as you repeated your original point right after I posted. Despite the fact that I clearly mentioned that I agree with that particular point in all my previous posts.

My point is that I don't think many people are judging the game by just that. We actually have a lot more than the "cover" of the character design you claim everyone's judging this game by. I for one could look past Spyro's design being ugly if the game concepts looked at all appealing to me, which it doesn't.

Then why were you repeating that original point over and over after each of my posts...?
