A Unique Opinion
Maybe I've been looking in the wrong places (mostly Youtube and this site), but, to put it lightly, I don't believe I've found a whole lot of people who actually like Skylanders. But the thing is, I DO like this game. I think it's an interesting idea.
Maybe it's a little too expensive, but the game still has a good few months of developing left, so the price could drop. And Spyro's new model looks really different (mostly the face) but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's ugly. And no old characters will be in it, but we're getting a good 30 new ones (some of which I find more inherently interesting than others. Wow, look at that. A character who shoots water and another character that shoots fire).
I've also heard a lot of people complaining this game is a "scam" and Spyro was "thrown in at the last minute," but that doesn't even make any sense, does it? I mean, hasn't this game been in development for two years? And there are still a few months before its release date.
As for the cost, I've heard it phrased several times as "OMG guys u have 2 pay $500 to buy all the action figures and get the full Spyro experience!" That's like saying you have to buy all three Pokemon games and collect every single Pokemon in a Generation to have the full Pokemon experience. But when I play Pokemon I buy one game and form, like, a party of six.
Maybe I'm just more naturally open-minded than most gamers... I mean, I enjoyed Yugioh 5d's even though it bore little resemblance to the original Yugioh, I liked Crash of the Titans even though it completely changed the Crash Bandicoot gameplay, and, heck, I even liked Legend of Spyro, which by the way is OVER, the plot has CONCLUDED, and therefore any sequels would be like a fourth Lord of the Rings or an eighth Harry Potter. And really any LoS fans who complain about Skylanders being too different are being a little hypocritical anyways. (Also Cynder will probably NOT be in this game. Quit asking.)
So after throwing all this negative mojo into the air, I'm moving on to the point of this topic. Namely, does anybody actually agree with me on this? As in, am I the only one who's really excited to play this awesome-looking game and am annoyed so many people are willing to throw it into the reject pile faster than you can say Yugioh Zexal?
Being open minded to the possibility of Skylaners being a decent game is one thing, but am I really the only one who thinks this will be a high-quality video game? The developers are at least confident enough to flaunt it around a few months early. I'm not trying to force people to agree with me, just curious if I'm not the only extreme optimist in the room who's saddened by all the rampant Spyro pessimism.
So yeah, just giving my two cents like every other person here.
And lastly... SKYLAND IS AN OXYMORON! HOW CAN LAND BE IN THE SKY? Sorry, needed to get that off my chest...

Re: A Unique Opinion
I agree. The game sparked my interest the first time I say it. This is probably the Spyro game we've all been waiting for all these years. I can't wait to play Skylanders, mostly to try and play as the griffon, the water dragon, the feathered dragon, and lastly Spyro. :3

Re: A Unique Opinion
Unlike Aura, playing as Spyro is my FIRST priority, unless they decide to include Jazz Jackrabbit or a ThunderChicken. Then I'd be really torn between the three.
Yo, Spyro
I'm really happy for you, but Jazz Jackrabbit is one of the best platformers of all time.

Re: A Unique Opinion
Well, when I get the game, Spyro is going to be one of the few toys along with the Starter Pack, so I'll play as him first anyways until I get the others.

Re: A Unique Opinion
I think this will be a good game. I was a bit dubious at first, but just because Spyro's ugly it doesn't automatically make it a bad game. After all, the backgrounds look fantastic. The only think I'm still unsure about is the whole toy-collecting thing.
