Why I think this game is a major FAIL even before released.

it's a lot cheaper than some hobbies. Snowglobes are around $20, and those little ceramic villages people display around Christmastime consist of individual buildings that cost at least $30, and that's at the cheap end. Some of you probably have spent $500 or more on games you don't even play anymore, and I doubt the figurines will cost $10 at release so the whole cost thing is a bad argument.
Remember the first iPod? It has five gigabytes...FIVE GIGABYTES!
Now? iPod classic has ONE-HUNDRED FREAKING SIXTY GIGABYTES! (at the same price. Figure in the inflation and it's even more amazing.)
I recently got an 8GB micro-SD card for $12, when last year, I got a 4GB thumb drive for the same price. A lot could change in price in the next 7 months.

I have a friend who like tos buy DVDs and Blurays. He usually buys 2 or 3 every week.

I'll let you do the math.

When he was shopping for a new Bluray player, i suggested that he would get a PS3, because of it's quality. But he said he couldn't afford it. I looked at him puzzled.

It was just a metaphor. That being said, can you actually access the characters in Skylanders via cheat device? I'm sure somebody will screw around with it enough to find out eventually...

Except the character data is saved inside the figurine.

Also, the figurine is the memory card. So if you use a cheat device, you can't save.

Also, you can't store that amount of data on a cheat disc.

Also, are you saying your happy only getting 10.3% of the games features??

Your only getting three figurines with your purchase. That's only 3 out of 31 characters. 31/ 3= 10.3/repeating So, I guess getting that much for $70 is worth it, I guess..

There will probably be someone who can conterfeit the toys' electronic attributes. However, I, someone who thinks casual emulation is ok, think that crosses the line for cheating the system.

Buying the starter pack wont give you just 10% of the game, it will give you a full game and all the other figures are extra content.

Yeah, his math was definitely off. The only point in buying more than a handfull of figures is just to get different attacks, gameplay style, ect. I doubt you'll have to buy character x to unlock level y.
