The Twilight Harbor censorship is the most disappointing thing I've seen so far in regards to Reignited. How come Pinstripe and his guys were allowed to keep their guns but the Gnorcs can't?

Anyway here is my live reaction to the first bit of gameplay we got:

The guy who played it gave an apology on reddit after. He said there was about half a second of input lag so that's why he kept *bleep*ing up, and he said him not knowing how to use the boost ramps and thinking the third game was Enter the Dragon was on him. I was a bit annoyed at first, but I ain't gonna hold it against him.

There was no reason for him to apologize. He was simply a newbie to the game. Everyone saying "OMG cringe he shouldn't talk this is so painful to watch" is just an idiotic troll who thinks by putting other players down it'll make them feel better about their own skills. No one has the guts to admit they sucked at the game too when it was new to them. The point is he was having fun playing it. So everyone saying he was bad... WE GET IT. YOU'RE A PRO. STOP.

I think the issue is they should've had a Spyro veteran playing to show off the game. Him playing the game that poorly makes it seems like the controls are broken and it makes TFB look bad. I know I had serious questions about the controls until I saw more gameplay. That being said, people did go a bit far and an apology was definitely not necessary.

I fully agree. That right there is the reasoned and mature response to his gameplay.

I absolutely sucked at the game when I was a kid. Most people are when they're a total newb. Plus they for whatever reason chose one of the most notoriously hard levels of Spyro 1 as part of the playable demo. Not the smartest move on their part.

As always, I love to see your videos on YouTube, so keep up the good work! smile (also, sorry if I mispronounced your username in the comments section of your YouTube channel before. I kept thinking you were saying: "Hi, it's me, Haru" not: "Hi, it's Miharu." Lol, my mistake. Is it from an Anime or something? It sounds cool and unique, and 'japanesey' to me.)

I agree that it likely would've been a better presentation should they have brought on a Spyro veteran, but regardless, he was simply a newb so he doesn't at all deserve the hate. The ungodly level of hate he's received is mindboggling. I don't know what it is about the internet, but it seems to bring out the best and worst in people. In cases like this, people can be so cruel. hmm

He was a newb, things happen, it all looks great anyway, so anyone complaining about his gameplay can get over it. Some people need to learn to lift people's spirits instead of constantly knocking them down.

i'm not actually an idiotic troll who thinks putting other people down will make me feel better about my own skills (which i don't feel bad about anyway i might add), i just found his commentary cringy. calm down.

I don't want to argue further. It's not funny and it doesn't make you cool to point out "cringey" things. A simple "he wasn't very good at the game" would have sufficed, but you over-exaggerated. That's exactly what a troll does. All I'm saying is I'm very frustrated at the negative attitude you and a majority of others had toward a man who had never played the game before and was even laughing at himself because he knew he wasn't good at it. As a newcomer to the game, he didn't need to apologize. But he did.

People need to come to terms with the fact that some people playing this game will be newbies and even children who only know Spyro from Skylanders.

So far I've been Mr. Happy-With-Everything, but I gotta say, this change is one I'm not to happy with...

I can sorta understand why they did it with today's sensitivities (especially in the wake of so many mass shootings here in the US) but still, that's a rather drastic change from the originals...

If they couldn't use real guns they could've at least use Star Wars style blasters, parents don't get outraged over that.

I understand you were stating how you felt, but your words came across as very rude and immature in my eyes. It wasn't my intention to make assumptions about who you are as a person, I just genuinely don't understand why anyone felt the need to get worked up about someone playing badly.

Seriously. Lasers, rockets, something hi-tech. Paint is just a mild inconvenience.

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

The reason I brought it up at all was because I love this series and I wanna see it treated with due respect. I'm not saying newcomers shouldn't play the game. I just don't think that having someone who clearly didn't know what he was talking about play the first proper gameplay we've gotten was a good idea. Like I said, I'm not gonna hold it against him, and I don't really care about that anymore.  I'm just happy that I got to watch some gameplay.

Also I don't know if you were calling me and 36 idiotic trolls, but I don't appreciate it if you were.

Again, it's a misunderstanding. I perceive saying things like "cringe" (which in itself is a very childish word) as troll-like behavior. What I meant is, in my eyes, this is the way comments like that come across. I do not believe any of you are idiots or trolls, but that's how I perceive that type of comment. Sorry if I didn't make that clear, I'm just sick of seeing it everywhere I go.

I hate starting drama. I really do. I was simply very annoyed and felt the need to speak up (same way I feel about those who hate Skylanders and bash it at every chance they get). I will drop it now. I apologize if I came off as rude.

I don't wish to join in on the drama, but IMO you don't need to apologize. I actually agree with you (for the most part), and you didn't really start it. Merely called out a legitimate problem.

I don't personally think anyone here is trying in any way to be a troll, it's natural after all for us seasoned fans to have that kind of reaction when watching the dude suck at playing it, but you're right that he doesn't deserve the hate and people need to just let it go.

So with that being said, I'm off that topic from here on out, and back to the subject at hand. cool

I agree that they could've gone with some sort of laser blasters or something. That would've definitely kept the same tension and atmosphere while also remaining conscious of today's modern sensitivities. The goop just makes way less threatening.

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

Seems like maybe what happened here was something like this? (Tell me if I'm misunderstanding the situation)

  • Fandom on Twitter/Reddit/YouTube etc is way too harsh on this E3 dude because social media is toxic as *bleep*

  • 36 and Twingo express similar sentiments about it bothering them, but not in a troll-like way

  • Miharu, frustrated with the fandom in general, complains about it here

  • 36 and Twingo, the only two people here who Miharu's complaints could possibly apply to (even though it wasn't originally intended to be about them specifically) defend themselves as not being like that, and Miharu doubles down on the accusation anyway

Something like this? Because neither of their posts came off in a mean-spirited or trollish way to me at all. We're not Twitter here; just because someone uses the word "cringe" doesn't mean they're trying to... whatever it is Twitter mobs do. I know you wanted to drop this, Miharu, but if this is what happened, please try to keep in mind going forward that not everywhere is like the angry, screeching masses of the loudest parts of the fandom (and even if it was, there wouldn't be much point in engaging about it, would there? wink )

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

While I understand the feeling of sacrilege felt about an individual who is unfamiliar with the original games being chosen for this demo, I concur with the point and logic of someone able to provide good exposure being more important than someone knowledgeable.

As one who'd played trilogy at their releases but now has a minute recall of the first game as I no longer own it as opposed to the other two (I didn't recognize a moment of it in this video) and remains from the start poor at steering the supercharge, I can attest that this guy's shortcomings are plausible even for someone experienced. Years without practice tends to cause rust.

Those couple of people who'd responded to the thread I made needing advise on defeating the final round of the Ripto battle, at least one of which I've spotted in this one didn't judge me for my difficulty and this guy's difficulties are no different.
To hold him to higher standards just because he's a well-known gamer and I'm no one is bull*bleep*.

He clearly established himself as a newbie but so *bleep*ing what, we all are once at everything, starting with functioning as a living organism (walking, talking, getting oneself to sleep and using the toilet).

Ergo, I find the scrutiny asinine and his apology unnecessary.

That being said, the person at the controls doesn't even matter, it's the game that's the focus and it's beautiful. I'm excited.

if people who don't know me at all could stop making wild and insulting assumptions about me, i'd really appreciate that!

the reason i didn't judge you for it was because you were politely asking in a forum post looking for help. if you broadcasted yourself as an ""expert"" as i understand this guy did, and THEN proceeded to make those kinds of mistakes, i would take more issue with it. this isn't hard to understand. what is it with people in this thread??

also, ""Because He's a Well-Known Gamer"", i didn't know he was a well-known gamer. i have no idea who this guy even is. i assumed he was a ""No One"" . not that it even matters, because i DON'T CARE IF PEOPLE ARE FAMOUS OR NOT. I NEVER DID AND STILL DON'T.

can people please stop pointing fingers at me for something i didn't do now?

I've realized that I've been thoughtless here. It happens.
Had I read more of the thread before composing my response I would have seen how heated this topic had become and stayed out of the kitchen as it is said.

To be honest, I have no idea who this person is either, but to be chosen to demo an unreleased game I just assumed he had to be a well-known gamer.
That was self-sacrilege right there. I hate assumptions of me and am not generally one to conceive them without some solid evidence.

Please understand, I meant no personal attack but was making a statement to the entire population of criticizers against bullying this demo-player just because he appeared to be new at these games.

I should have researched him. That's the general Anne way.
If he proclaimed himself a Spyro expert, admittedly, I didn't watch the whole thing and paid more attention to the game than his commentary, than I concur that he's guilty of fraudulence.

BTW, I am quite grateful for your help and may require it again.

it's okay. to be fair, if this had happened to someone else, they probably would have handled it better than i did (see Twingo's response to Miharu, as opposed to mine) and i think it's quite fair to say i've "overreacted" in this thread.

To tit for tat here, on your end of an assumption, I tend to lose my cool quite in that very fashion.

It's all good here raindrop.
